What taking part involves
This program hasn’t described its tasks yet. In most maintainer programs, members:- Check that listed equipment is where the listing says and easy to reach
- Add a short note or photos about what you found
- Some members, once approved, help with inspections or follow-up work after a problem report
Not every member does every task. Programs approve members for particular kinds of work — inspections, for example, may need a skill the program approves separately.Confirming equipment is there records that it was present and reachable when checked. It doesn’t show the equipment works. Depending on the program, a member’s confirmation may update the listing straight away or be reviewed first.
What membership changes
As a member, you can
- See the program’s tasks in the area you cover
- Take on the tasks your program has approved you for, or ones a coordinator assigns you
- Add notes and photos about what you found
Membership doesn’t
- Make you staff of the organisation responsible for the equipment
- Put you on call for emergencies — maintainer programs do not involve emergency response
